Job Summary /Responsibilities:
The Lead Architect will be a member of a performance engineering team and participate in the design and deployment of network and service level monitoring solutions for a world-wide IP/MPLS network. The position includes responsibility for designing, developing and implementing performance management (PM) solutions for a wide array of Ethernet and IP-based products and services including VoIP, IPTV, L3VPN, and Internet data services. The Lead Architect will also participate in the design and development of a performance management and analytics framework employing Splunk, virtual machines (VMs) and Hadoop for storage and large-scale data processing. Work entails design of PM solutions, new technology assessments, vendor evaluations and integration of data for analytics and proactive performance management. In addition, the position requires close collaboration with a variety of peer organizations including Engineering, Planning, Provisioning, Operations, Repair and Product teams.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Network, Computer, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or Related Field.
2-5 years of experience with Ethernet and IP Networking and Data Processing Architectures.
Willingness to adapt and learn in a rapidly evolving environment. Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
Knowledge of TCP/IP routing, Ethernet switched networks and monitoring protocols including TWAMP, Ethernet OAM, Y.1731, 802.1ag, RFC2544/Y.1564.
Knowledge of VoIP protocols including SIP, RTP, RTCP, RTCP-XR
Prior experience with probes from EXFO and Corvil and Smart NIDs from Accedian and RAD is a plus.
Familiarity with Splunk and analytics of structured and unstructured data sets.
Experience with Hadoop, MapReduce and HDFS components is a plus
Some programming experience with bash, perl, python and html would be helpful.
Strong written and verbal communications skills with ability to work productively in a team environment.
Capable of managing multiple assignments and delivering on schedule and within budget.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and Visio.
