The Customer Service Technician will perform installation, maintenance and repair on all cable/station facilities and equipment. The Service Technician will be required to climb poles, use a shovel, pick and other tools to dig and repair cable; and may be required to work in manholes or controlled environmental vaults (CEV). Attendance, conduct and performance records will be considered in the selection process. Job bidding and selection will be administered under mutually agreed upon guidelines of the local labor agreement.

Job Accountabilities and Requirements

  • Combination of education and relevant work experience totaling 4 years post-high school or equivalent

  • Minimum of 2 years recent experience in installation, maintenance and repair of cable and/or station facilities

  • Completed basic courses in pole climbing, basic electricity, installation/repair, cable splicing/maintenance, basic cable transmission and cable air pressure courses, or possess equivalent job experience.

  • Must have a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record.

  • Must be able to visually identify all colors used in telephone cable.

  • Must be able to maneuver a 28-foot extension ladder (75 lbs.) and a manhole cover (150 lbs.)

  • Possess proficient PC skills to include use of Microsoft products, electronic mail and the Internet.

  • Proven, successful customer contact experience.
