Job Overview:

Responsible for day-to-day Network Surveillance for Broadband and Ethernet Services. Support functions entail all technical support for DSLAM/Ethernet alarming, fault isolation, troubleshooting, repair and provisioning support. Work closely with Internal Technical Support and various Field Support Organizations as well Dispatch and Leadership Teams. This is a 24 x 7 environment and you must be able and available to work any and all hours as well as overtime, rotating schedules, weekends, holidays and call-outs as condition of employment, based on the needs of the business.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of access DSLAMs, pairgains and BBDLC’s and Ethernet Equipment

  • Knowledge of Ethernet and DSL maintenance and surveillance processes and procedures for HSI network support

  • Experience troubleshooting IP, ATM, Ethernet, TCP/IP and OSI Layers 1-3 areas.

  • Experience with CLI/TL1 commands and GUI troubleshooting

  • Ability to understand and isolate physical layer problems.

  • Experience working on complex network troubles and/or maintenance assignments related to network access equipment to resolve trouble tickets.

  • Logical and analytical approach to troubleshooting issues.

  • Proven track record with troubleshooting advanced issues and/or providing technical leadership.

  • Ability to resolve Ethernet and DSL technical escalations on Network outages

  • Must have good oral and written communication skills

  • Working TCP/IP knowledge

  • Experience troubleshooting DSL or Ethernet related issues

  • High level of customer communication skills and focus.

  • Monitor all on-going Network impairments to ensure process is being followed and to facilitate the quickest restoration possible

  • Work well with minimum supervision

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Remedy are desired.

  • 2 or more years related work experience in voice and/or data repair

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Telecommunication experience (highly preferred HSI and network elements)

  • College degree, technical certification or relevant experience without a degree and 2 or more years related work experience in voice and/or data repair.

  • Ability to remain flexible in the face of change

  • Able to perform in a very stressful environment

  • Working Knowledge of Calix E7/C7, ALU7750, Fujistsu 9k, Lucent Stinger’s, ADTRAN TA3000 device.
