This Senior IT Engineer will be a member of the CenturyLink Hosting Infrastructure Engineering and Operations team, responsible for maintaining the Network Infrastructure across CenturyLink global Data Centers. Specifically, the planning, release and execution of all proactive network changes that are problem, capacity or project initiated to ensure CenturyLink Data Centers offer the highest levels of performance and availability.
Responsibilities include technical assessments, infrastructure and customer implementations, migrations and/or transition planning, development of best standards, technical documentation, complex maintenance, troubleshooting and problem resolution.
Planning, release and execution of maintenance activities related to Revenue-Growth, Infrastructure Augments or Software Upgrade Rollouts
Work on special projects to complete integrations and achieve cost saving
Assist in testing of new product release and rollout
Proactive Problem Management
Provide escalation support for internal escalations
Identify opportunities and drive improvement in problem and release management processes
Provide consulting services to customers
Maintain Data Center Hosting and Cloud Network infrastructure
Operational Testing and Documentation for all new product releases
Testing and Documentation for Patches and Software Upgrades
Perform hands-on configuration and troubleshooting of networking components
Respond swiftly within committed SLA time to onsite network troubleshooting requests issued
Perform daily network health check monitoring and routine network preventive maintenance
Perform frequent Software Defect, Problem Record, and Case Review Analysis
Network protocols and understanding of data communications in business environment
Experience with Network Switches, Routers, and Load Balancers is required.
Strong Security knowledge with hand-on installation of firewalls and IDS. Firewalls hand-on skill sets should include PIX, ASA, FWSM, Checkpoint, Palo Alto and NetScreen
Strong understanding on internetworking technologies likes VLAN, STP, and Routing Protocol like RIP, ISIS, BGP, and OSP as well as MPLS-based technologies
Working knowledge in Internetworking protocols like HTTP, FTP, SMTP, DNS etc
Cisco Certification (CCNA/CCNP/CCIE)
Cisco ASA / PIX firewalls, Checkpoint and/or any other firewall platform
Enterprise & Core Routing and Switching Experience
Cisco ACE & F5 Load Balancer experience
