This Senior Engineer position requires a high degree of technical and managerial competencies providing support to many and various CenturyLink and customer organizations. This position assumes ownership and accountability in areas of recognized technical expertise and provides technical, leadership, guidance, and assistance across different segments. Principal work includes high-level trouble identification and resolution for unique, complex or chronic type network problems, i.e. hardware, software, design, or provisioning. This position proactively takes the technical lead on technical issues or concerns, effectively identifying and resolving problems related to service assurance, network reliability, and customer satisfaction. This position will also mentor lower-level engineers and technicians as required.
Under minimal supervision and with subject matter expert level skills within more than one discipline in the area of Local Voice, provides Tier III technical support both internally and externally to CenturyLink employees, contractors, vendors, and customers, as required.
The senior engineer will act as the subject matter expert for the Local Voice, Local Service Repair, Central Office and Field Technicians, offering them real-time technical knowledge transfer as well as training and escalation support.
Candidates for this position must demonstrate technical proficiency in multiple Vendor Voice equipment and must be capable of performing a 7x24 rotating shift with limited assistance from focus group.
Develops, reviews, and issues documentation, such as Methods of Procedures (MOP), Task Orientated Practices (TOP), Technical Job Aids, Product Change Notices (PCN), Vendor Manuals, Standard Configurations, and so forth. This position will assist field operations, installation centers, maintenances centers, capacity provisioning, procurement, market units, and others through appropriate technical review and consultation.
May be called upon to provide targeted training for Center technicians. In addition, as new technologies are introduced, this position will provide course feedback and provide guidance for course development by Field / Center Training and Development.
5+ years professional experience with a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent relevant education and experience or 2-3 years with a Master's Degree.
Extensive experience and knowledge in Testing and Analysis of network services and network systems.
Experience in improving network reliability.
Excellent customer service skills.
