Defines the go to market initiatives, solutions, capabilities and approach to drive growth for the Government segment. Acts as a business manager, utilizing research, analysis of internal and external data, customer feedback and sales feedback to set the marketing plan for the Government segment.
Driving initiatives, programs and product strategies, creating the marketing plan, providing win/loss feedback to the organization – both internal to Gov’t and external, choosing from the centralized campaign, product, program and lead gen tactics which elements of the marketing tactics should be implemented, providing feedback to the campaign and program teams on target audiences, creating and planning enablement unique to the regions’ needs, executing/communicating on all campaigns, events, product/solution launches and other marketing, PR, analyst activities, recommending incentives, promotions for the team.
Interfaces with the product and solutions marketing group to help drive key gov’t programs with relevant messaging, tactics, offers and price points. Is intimate with the way gov’t agencies choose and procure services and helps simplify this for the customer and for the sales teams.
This role is a key partner to the RVP and interfaces with the RVP weekly/daily. Sitting on staff meetings, attending sales ‘Health of Business’ reviews, customer events, etc. Ideally this candidate has business management, segment strategy product marketing and field marketing in their background. The ideal candidate has had a sales role and is comfortable being with and in front of our largest customers.
Conducts rigorous assessments of CenturyLink’s capabilities vs the needs of our customers and market trends. Identifies the top growth areas for our Gov’t business.
Leverage external resources, industry experts to influence these business strategies, constantly.
Develops, recommends and drives consensus and execution of the strategy, both short and long term, to drive growth via analysis, research, experience and investigation – using internal and external market and industry data, trends and analysis. Engages with Sales, Product, Marketing and others to execute the strategy.
Strong leader across marketing, sales leadership, product, finance, sales operations, sales effectiveness; providing strategic direction, market guidance, customer insights and growth strategies. Ability to align these teams to the strategy necessary for growth within the Enterprise space.

Directs, drives and executes on necessary initiatives, research, studies and analysis.
Client-centric, business partner approach to the management of marketing with expertise leveraging the function in a large organization for competitive advantage.
10+ years of Federal and/or public sector marketing experience
Ability to analyze information, ask questions and gain insights that lead to strategic answers.
Able to lead both direct teams and cross functional/matrixed teams
Well versed in all business functions, including marketing, sales, finance, HR, operations and IT
Enjoys ambiguity and can define a path forward regardless of roadblocks or challenges
Executive presence, interacting with President level and EVP/VP level regularly
5+ years of technology marketing experience
Results-Oriented leader with prior successful experience in a dynamic, highly matrixed corporate environment, who is detail-oriented and has a strong focus on delivery milestones.
Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to listen effectively and communicate in a proactive fashion.
Excellent written and verbal presentation skills.
Ability to adapt to continually changing priorities and aggressive project timeframes.
Experience with sales and marketing automation systems Salesforce.com and Marketo
Strong team player with a positive attitude
Post graduate study or degree preferred
Understands segment marketing
Prepared to leverage modern marketing concepts, Account Based Marketing, social selling, intent data and sales/marketing automation
Product or product marketing experience
Experience in a sales or sales leadership position
