Job Summary

This position is responsible for all raised floor hardware installation and break / fix consisting of large systems environments for mission critical sites and provides direction and technical guidance for installing and monitoring operating system hardware. Incumbent typically has 3 - 5 years experience in the industry.

Installs hardware, supports break/fix, and provides support for small and large system hardware including other attached data communications devices. Maintains equipment records indicating locations, features, failures/maintenance actions, changes, and costs for such equipment. Equipment may include cross connections, servers, KVM's, routers, switches, cabling, and telephony.

Additional responsibilities include making recommendations to standardize processes and procedures, introducing new technology, and improving existing technology. Must remain current on new changes and trends for cabling standards and fiber standards.

This is a full time position, working 8 hour days. College degree or equivalent Data Center experience required.

Job Description

Supports, assists, and plans with vendors cable pulls, equipment installation and/or relocations/upgrades.

Reviews all Production Service Requests (PDR's) for tracking assigned incoming work.

Creates and manages Change Management Requests (CMR's) for all raised floor work including validating that the records get approved.

Work on standards and inventory controls for all hardware requirements.

Implements all Raised Floor changes, as directed, with the exception of Vendor Installs, Large System Midrange, and Mainframe. (Mainframe includes

Essential Functions:Tape Center work.) This includes Server, KVM's, KVM Configurations, Routers, Switches, and Cabling.

Performs all small connection runs, tests, and validates connections.

Supports on- site 24x7 as it relates to Raised Floor Hardware break/fix, including on-site support and replacements with the exception of Vendor Installs, Large System Midrange, and Mainframe. (Mainframe would include Tape Center work.)

Physically installs Cross-Connections for voice and data configurations.

Assists in the design of floor plans and infrastructure for new hardware installations.

Works with the Planning Group to validate and coordinate timeline of CMR requests and changes.

Manages to departmental standards and supports the inventory of critical raised floor hardware

Responsible for the development, integration and management of all critical raised floor-servicing standards to include equipment installations, hardware maintenance, hardware racking, cable management, and vendor support.

Works with critical departmental managers to ensure consistent and high quality support for all mission critical operations/applications.
