Job Summary

The Technology Focus support area is Remote Secure Access - Virtual Private Networks (VPN), Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), Data Loss Prevention (DLP), including Email Gateway Mail Filtering and security. Lead vendor management engagement, strategic direction, technology organization, implementation, and maintenance for Active Defense security technologies. Build a high performing team using state of the art infrastructure to support Active Defense and corporate resources for employees, contractors, and partners. Partner with peer corporate organizations such as compliance, network, and information technology (IT) to move projects forward, meeting the Active Defense business needs. Balance security technologies, costs, and business deliverables to meet strategic objectives. Will directly engage and mentor a team of 1017 dispersed security engineers.

Job Description

  • Supports Active Defense Director and Cyber Defense organizations through effective security technology solutions.

  • Manages the day-to-day workload for security organization related to projects, service assurance, operations, performance measures, metrics, and incident response

  • Promotes collaborative, empowered working environments across the company, removing barriers and realizing possibilities.

  • Fulfills state and federal statutory and regulatory requirements pertaining to Active Defense security technologies.

  • Lead and coach security staff members to ensure uninterrupted, secure network and corporate resource access support and protection at maximum performance

  • Manages technology selection, architecture, engineering, implementation, and support for the security application systems related to Active Defense in support of corporate employees and business initiatives.

  • Accountable for the organization’s budget, both capital and operational expenditures

  • Builds an accountable team developing reliable and repeatable architecture, processes, standards, operations, and documentation driving secure results.

  • Ensure maintenance of service level agreements for security technologies.

  • Lead the development and implementation of effective and reasonable policies and practices to secure protected and sensitive data and ensure information security and compliance with relevant legislation and legal interpretation for the Infrastructure security organization.

  • Fulfill technology and people integration of companies acquired by CenturyLink to ensure standardized, efficient, and protective security solutions.

  • Ensure team engagement with other global organizations on projects and integration solutions including direction of projects to secure and deliver hardware, software, and licenses as needed to deliver a secured environment

  • Lead team to ensure they have regular in-depth diagnostics and repair functions in place to proactively identify and resolve complex security related problems improving the reliability of the supported security environment.

  • Lead team engagement and work with outside consultants as appropriate on required security assessments and audits.

  • Engages in professional development to maintain continual growth in professional skills and knowledge essential to the position.

  • Educates peers developing a corporate security mindfulness.


  • Strong (Industry Level) knowledge of security frameworks in support of corporate employees and business initiatives

  • Previous leadership for process, training, and change management, including managing operational, engineering, and architecture responsibilities.

  • Prior Leadership experience supporting security technology infrastructure and teams

  • Ability to multi-task and provide direction to team leaders for delivery of complicated technical issues across and upwards within management hierarchy.

  • Deep understanding of processes, standards, provisioning, alarming, tools and event management

  • Set and deliver strategic goals for the team which provide cross organizational alignment.

Technical Knowledge & Skills:

  • Understanding of detailed technical documentation including security and network diagram

  • Understanding network, compute, database, and middleware technologies as it applies to vulnerability profile and security protection technologies.

  • Strong organizational and presentation skills

  • Certifications in compute, network, or security strongly desired.

Required :

  • BA/BS in Information Technology, Computer Science, MIS or related field or equivalent work experience

  • Management Experience of 5-10 years

  • Information Security Experience 5 years preferred

  • Preferred Certifications: CISSP or GSLC or equivalent level certifications
