Job Summary

The Global Messaging Thought Leadership Marketing Manager role is a hands-on role with the responsibility of planning and creating a strategic thought leadership content strategy, and successfully executing the on-time delivery of key assets that enable CenturyLink’s point of view around multiple lines of business.

Job Description

  • The ideal candidate for this role is an innovative and highly-collaborative individual who will partner with the messaging leads for brand and campaign messaging, formulate creative ways to engage with target customers, and deliver compelling assets for use by downstream customer-facing teams including global campaigns and brand, press and media relations, sales, etc.Significant experience and expertise in content marketing, marketing content strategy and demand generation is a critical requirement. The ideal candidate must have a background in technology content marketing and be passionate about meeting our customers’ needs for understanding the technology landscape and creating compelling pieces of content that demonstrate CenturyLink’s vision and help increase share of voice in key areas of networking, security, and hybrid cloud. The role will require tight partnership with the global campaigns team to help ensure that the thought leadership assets can be used in market to drive greater interest, engagement and follow-through to key in-market campaigns Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage Thought Leadership Platforms and Plan Editorial Calendar: Create long-term thought leadership platforms that can be used to establish CenturyLink as a key player in the networking, hybrid cloud, and security areas. Additionally, create editorial calendar in partnership with marketing campaigns, events, and product teams to ensure assets are delivered in time to support critical dates for campaign refresh, product launches, key events, etc

  • Manage The Creation and Execution of Innovative and Impactful Assets: Work with third party creative, content and research companies to gather and vet proposals that enable the thought leadership strategy and content calendar. Bring proposals for content to CenturyLink marketing leadership team to get approval and budget before engaging third party.

  • Manage Thought Leadership Partner and Vendor relationships : Manage the third-party relationship with content creation third-party (analyst firm, creative agency, content house, etc.) to ensure timely delivery of key milestone assets, prototypes, and ultimately, the finished thought leadership instrument.



  • Minimum of 8 years technology marketing experience

  • 5+ years of content marketing and thought leadership content creation experience across white papers, blogs, calculators, videos, microsites, etc.

  • Creativity and innovation in go-to-market approaches and the ability to understand and express CenturyLink’s stance on networking, cloud, and security

  • Deep knowledge of the marketing funnel; experience with early marketing funnel stages to generate awareness and interest a must

  • Experience with marcom and thought leadership – proficient in creating pillar assets that can be used across a multitude of marketing vehicles (social, web, events, etc.)

  • Demonstrated experience and ability to build strong collaborative relationships across all levels of the organization

  • Excellent time and project management skills. Ability to drive the end-to-end execution of multiple projects simultaneously with minimal direction


Bachelors or Equivalent in Marketing

Masters or Equivalent in Marketing
