Job Summary

The CenturyLink Senior Lead IT Engineer - SAP is responsible for the architecture, design, implementation and support of client managed application services of SAP. The Engineer filling this role will be a Subject Matter Expert (SME) within the area of technical focus and provide leadership, mentoring, and technical direction in the analysis of multiple and complex systems. Support will be specifically on S/4 HANA, ECC, Fiori, BW/4 HANA, BW / BI, Business Objects (BOBJ / BODS), MDG, PO/PI and Solution Manager.

  • Actively participate in day to day support and project efforts for client environment(s)

  • Act as a thought and process leader for the team

  • Drive documentation lifecycle for client and technology specific areas

Job Description

  • Take ownership of the most complex issues in the technical landscape as SAP SME, research system related problems, solve the toughest ERP & IT related problems by figuring out solutions, and/or implementing SAP best practices to make things work.

  • Demonstrate experience in day-to-day production support, monitoring, issue resolution, troubleshooting skills, performance tuning, proactive system analysis and standard SAP Basis administration activities.

  • Proficient in installing, configuring, documenting, troubleshooting and tuning of S/4 HANA, ECC, Fiori, BW/4 HANA, BW / BI, Business Objects (BOBJ / BODS), MDG, PO/PI and Solution Manager.

  • Install and configuration of HANA server, stand-alone SLT Replication Server, add on in ECC for SLT; Create and configure connection SLT to HANA, SLT to ECC.

  • Must have configured SAML, SSO, SSL, Portal build and backend system configuration, Portal Integration.

  • Prepare and execute Pre and Post HANA migration tasks including HANA checklist, HANA Sizer, post migration checks, post upgrade remediation (SPDD, SPAU).

  • Experience on SAP Solution Manager tasks including Monitoring, EWA setup, E2E Root Cause Analysis.

  • Experience in BOBJ integration with SAP BW on HANA, BPC on NetWeaver installation and integration with SAP BW on HANA and integration testing.

  • Experience in HANA DB administration through HANA studio – Create Schemas, Backup & Restore Configurations, Monitoring, Integration with other Systems, etc.

  • Business Objects services initial configuration and job administration.

  • Proficient in performing SAP Heterogeneous/Homogeneous Migrations.

  • Ability to develop and modify shell scripts to automate procedures.

  • Assume ownership of CenturyLink managed services, including both platform and application technologies.

  • Liaison with project management office and appropriate project management offices to help manage the day-to-day interdependencies of multiple project teams.

  • Assist a supportive team-oriented work climate that enables business team members to develop professionally.

  • Good hands on expertise on various technical aspects of SAP technologies.

  • Demonstrated strategic thinking and leadership with strong abilities in Relationship management.

  • Demonstrated competency in developing efficient and effective solutions to diverse and complex business problems.

  • The ability to effectively communicate with clients, peers, and management.

  • The ability to develop and maintain internal and external professional relationships.

  • Create concise and accurate technical documentation for consumption throughout CenturyLink.

  • Participate and collaborate with other operations management teams to provide root-cause analysis for all client outages and failed changes in the environment.

  • Establish standards for monitoring and auditing to ensure stable and supportable operating Application and Infrastructure.

  • Drive service improvements and efficiencies through the design and development of effective automation.

  • Review audit and performance results to facilitate proper capacity planning and service management.

  • Carry out special tasks at Management’s direction

  • Participate in an on-call rotation and shift turnovers to other global support teams.

  • Drive for self-improvement in technical and non-technical areas.

Qualifications

Required Skills:

  • A minimum of 10+ years of experience in technology profession focused on SAP solution stack like ERP design and management

  • Preferred Certified NetWeaver/HANA Technology Systems Consultant and expertise in Solution Manager. Experience in SAP HANA, SAP HANA design, development, implementation, OS/DB Migrations, installations, upgrades and support of SAP NetWeaver and BO applications

  • Has strong understanding of the core BASIS modules in evaluating business requirements, and is adept at translating, validating, developing, building, verification and deploying those requirements within project timelines.

  • Has thorough knowledge of the NetWeaver Systems and Security design, process and procedures, segregation of duties, change control and change management.

  • Established best practice NetWeaver Systems policies and procedures

  • Experience with Hana integration to other SAP solutions in a high compute environment

  • Very strong skills and experience in Disaster Recovery and High Availability architecture. Must have performed DR on HANA or worked on scale out configurations.

  • Understanding of cloud architecture

  • Very strong skills in problem source identification, problem management and problem resolution.

  • Proven ability to meet or exceed client’s expectations. He is proven to meet all objectives set forth by client and project managers alike for best practices and industry solutions.

  • Good analytical problem solving and fact finding skills. Related personal skills:

  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal with a proven track record for each.

  • Solution oriented personality - highly motivated individual who is a self-starter.

  • Liaison with cloud architects, Operations team and managed services & support teams.

  • Good in customer interaction or has worked on customer facing roles.

Large-Enterprise experience in the following technologies:

  • SAP Technologies: S/4 HANA, ECC, Fiori, BW/4 HANA, BW / BI, Business Objects (BOBJ / BODS), MDG, PO/PI and Solution Manager

  • Windows Server (2003 /2008/2012) & UNIX (Linux / AIX)

  • Active Directory

  • Database Engineering: Microsoft SQL Server, Sybase ASE, Sybase IQ, SAP HANA

  • Experience in Windows / UNIX scripting

  • Disaster recovery strategies

  • Strong understanding of virtualization concepts and technologies

  • Strong documentation & communication skills

  • Flexible and able to adapt to a rapidly changing environment

  • A broad range of technical skills with a strong desire to constantly expand skillset

  • Positive, self-motivated individual who can complete goals independently

  • Must be a team-player
