Job Summary

A Sr. Lead Sales Engineer is a thought leader, critical thinker, influencer and technical evangelist for CenturyLink solutions. This person will lead the pre-sales development of technical solutions to solve client business problems and acts as a key member of the client account team. Acting as a consultant to the client and sales, the Sr. Lead SE is responsible for using a deep understanding client technology, business requirements and strategies to build a technology roadmap including CenturyLink solutions.

Job Description

Essential Duties:

  • Leads and analysis and facilitates understanding of customers business needs and develops solution strategies based on knowledge of customer’s technology environment

  • Deep understanding of business strategies, execution model, frameworks and technology enablement within one or more related domains and verticals used to drive engagement and thought leadership with clients

  • Comfortable Initiating and developing customer relationships at executive level and act as a customer advocate within CenturyLink to ensure exceptional customer experience

  • Lead the development and delivery of technical proposals and presentations for customers and provide comprehensive multidomain expertise to effectively communicate to all levels.

  • Demonstrates ability to influence the sales process effectively and technically close customer objections

  • Actively participate and facilitate account, module, and market planning meetings. Develop multi-domain technology solution strategies and recommend service options which align to customer objectives and deliver profitable revenue growth to CenturyLink.

  • Develop multi-domain technology responses to client issued Requests for Proposal/Information through design and thought leadership.

  • Proven ability to deliver both formal and informal presentations which effectively represent the industry positioning and capabilities of CenturyLink, and the business value and ROI of service offerings proposed to customers

  • Provide statement(s) of work, scoping and design documentation, solution summaries, operational support detail, and other technical documentation to outline delivery and lifecycle of services proposed to customers

  • Participate in relevant market, industry, or technology organizations / associations, marketing events, and trade shows Provide basic service, capability, technology, and industry training to internal and external groups

  • Maintains a deep understanding of CenturyLink’s product portfolio, roadmap and provides constantly provides feedback to improve product capability


  • Minimum of 9 years’ experience in Pre-Sales engineering or equivalent experience including consulting or professional services

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field. Master’s degree preferred.

  • Minimum of 1 advanced technology domain certification. Multiple certifications preferred (CISSP, CCIE, AWS Solutions Architect, PMP, CISM, MCSE, etc.)

  • Highly skilled at leading customer collaboration, discovery, and whiteboard sessions to draw out technology solutions.

  • Demonstrated business acumen surrounding wireless 4G and 5G networks.

  • Understanding of the wireless marketplace and industry dynamics.

  • Deep and wide understanding of IT concepts, architectures, and processes, with experience supporting networking, software, cloud, or security technology domains

  • Demonstrated ability to establish lasting relationships with customers.

  • Strong competitive drive and tenacity

  • Excellent written, presentation and speaking skills

  • Must possess a deep understanding of business strategies, execution model and technology enablement within one or more related domains to drive engagement and though leadership with clients

  • Comfortable presenting in large technical oriented groups during trade shows or marketing events.

  • Demonstrated experience in business strategies, execution model and technology enablement within one or more related domains to drive engagement and thought leadership with clients

  • In depth understanding of IT Infrastructure – specifically technologies such as networking, IT services, applications, security, and voice services.

  • Experience with enterprise technologies, architectures and processes

  • Demonstrated ability to establish lasting relationships with customers.

  • Strong competitive drive and tenacity

  • Excellent written, presentation and speaking skills
