Job Summary

The CAD Technician 3 is responsible for drafting-specific tasks of multiple telecommunication projects as well as developing procedures and techniques to improve drafting efficiency.

Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Creates and modifies Inside Plant (floor plans and rack elevation) and Outside Plant (fiber route & detail) drawings from engineering field notes utilizing AutoCAD

  • Creates and modifies spreadsheets (i.e. Cable Running Lists, Table of Contents, Revision Logs) using Microsoft Excel

  • Leads multiple drafting projects in a fast paced environment

  • Provides leadership and training to other CAD Technicians

  • Follows and enforces established CAD standards

  • Works directly with on-site and off-site engineering staff

  • Interfaces with project management and engineering to ensure projected hours and schedules are met

  • Provides support for drafting-specific aspects of proposals

  • Documents and tracks departmental performance metrics



  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD 2014 or later

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office

  • Working knowledge of LISP and ArcMAP preferred

  • Learns and applies new information quickly and effectively

  • Ability to take a teamwork approach to the job by cooperating with and offering to help others

  • Must be able to communicate effectively

  • Exhibit integrity, self-motivation, and problem solving skills

  • High School Diploma or GED required. Technical degree or certification preferred

  • Four years or more of recent on-the-job AutoCAD experience required

Security Requirements

  • US Citizenship required

  • Active TS/SCI

  • Must maintain eligibility requirements for access to classified information (applicants selected will be subject to a government security re-investigation)


  • Must have a valid driver’s license and have a clean driving record

  • Minimal local travel may be required
