Cyber engineer performing research and development, software design, programming, and support of Cyber services and capabilities to government customers.
The Main Responsibilities
Performs as a member of a small yet highly skilled team of engineers developing, implementing, and sustaining new and emerging cyber capabilities such as advanced analytics, automated security services, cloud-based environments, and intelligence driven solutions.
Interacts closely with network engineers, security personnel, program managers and vendors to establish system/capability requirements and designs technical solutions to meet critical cyber services performance criteria.
Leads in the development and implementation of new enterprise-level cyber service projects.
Interacts extensively with internal engineering and support teams as well as with Tier IV support engineers of various hardware/software vendors to solve difficult problems with operational services.
Assists in resolution of escalated trouble reports to ensure resolution in a manner which least disrupts customer service.
Works with cyber operators, when requested, to conduct in-depth analysis of system or software issues.
Develops methods and procedures for protection of the network, systems, and applications.
Develops and implements detailed standard operating procedures dealing with provisioning, integration, operations, and support of customer cyber services.
Provides project status to management.
Provides after-hours support on an on-call basis, as required.
Designs and codes the development of new or sustained capabilities using leading agile methodologies and coding practices.
Participate in the decision-making process for the development, engineering, and solution to complex customer requirements.
What We Look For in a Candidate
Bachelor’s degree in an Information Technology field and three years experience or seven years applicable work experience required
Experience using and coding in a popular developer language (e.g. Python, Java, PHP, etc)
Experience working in small groups, but with the ability to work independently
Self-motivated and able to work well in a distributed office
Candidate must be a US Citizen and hold an active Department of Defense SECRET clearance to be considered for this position
Motivated by challenges and developing unique solutions for customers
Strong organizational skills and ability to stay focused on managing multiple tasks concurrently
5 years’ experience as a python developer
5 years’ experience in agile software development practices to include the use of IT automation and open sources tools like Ansible and Kubernetes
5 years’ experience in software operations including continuous integration/continuous development utilizing DevOps principles and development processes
5 years’ experience designing, planning, and implementing cyber services required.
5 years’ experience working closely within Linux based operating systems
Experience engineering and developing new products, services, or capabilities from infancy to production implementation
Previous work experience with the Department of Defense (DoD), Intelligence Community, or other government agencies (e.g. DHS, DOE, Veteran Affairs, etc.).
Ability to provide the proactive status of assigned work and ability to estimate the level of effort for future work
Strong critical thinking/analytics skills, creativity, and a proven drive for quality.
