Job Summary

  • Provides Tier 1 support for DS, CO, and Local Network Organization.

  • Monitor, survey, and analyze IOF alarms.

  • Event correlation.

  • Perform remote testing, isolation and restoration of DS1 and above services including SONET, DWDM and COSP Technologies using various software applications.

  • The NFC interacts with the GEMC, CO techs, field techs, FAA, and NMA database groups.

Job Description

  • Employees are required to work varying tours and hours including possible mandatory overtime, weekends, and holidays depending upon employee skills, abilities, and the needs of the business.

  • This center is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

  • Required to work autonomously with little or no supervision.

  • Required to work in a team environment and participate in quality and process improvement teams.

  • Required to make informed decisions with or without direct input from management and Tier II support where appropriate.

  • Employees will interface with internal customers.

  • The physical work environment will be made up of a workstation and telephone.

  • May perform the same job tasks many time a day.

  • May use telephone or headset for long periods of time.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Experience with Network and Equipment.

  • Candidate will have experience with the following systems: NMA, TIRKS, WFA/C, INTAS, View 1, INM.

  • Proven experience in an extremely detailed environment where following explicit processes is a paramount to the success of your responsibilities.

  • Proven troubleshooting skills of investigation and resolution.

  • Candidates with a testing or design background are encouraged to apply.

  • Able to perform under pressure.

  • Provides status to various levels of Management.

  • Must understand DS1, DS3, SONET, DWDM technologies.

  • Excellent Communication skills.

  • Requires high degree of speed and accuracy.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Expert level (2+ years) experience with the Network and corresponding Equipment

  • Desirable candidate will have expert level experience with each of the following systems: NMA, TIRKS, WFA/C, INTAS, View 1, INM.

  • Previous testing experience with DS1+circuits and alarms.

  • Previous IOF Maintenance experience.

  • Experience with various vendor’s equipment – Tellabs/Coriant 7100, Infinera, Fujitsu, Nortel, Cisco, Ciena, and Infinera.
