Job Summary

  • Responsible for active network monitoring including incident detection, fault isolation, fault management, and fault resolution

  • Provide first level troubleshooting and incident resolution of network issues and provide timely reporting and escalation of incidents in accordance with SOP

  • Using ticketing system, properly and accurately document on-going issues in accordance with incident tracking procedures. It include understand and acting according to reporting matrix and incident response requirements

  • Coordinate, de-conflict, and track Authorize Service Interruption (ASI) and ensure proper documentation of customer notification and concurrence.

  • With guidance from implementation team, Operations Technician 3 are expected to create and follow method of procedure (MOP) and execute turn-up of specified systems

Job Description

In a 24x7 Network operating center (NOC) environment, Operations Technician 3 will monitors, troubleshoot, and resolve network incidents on a fiber optics communications network to ensure near 100 availability of all system. The position services as the first point of contact for network outages. A qualified candidate will indentify, document, troubleshoot, track, and resolve network incidents and standing outages. Operations technician is expected to follow standard operating procedures (SOP) to report incidents in a timely manner.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical discipline with a minimum of 1 year of overall related experience; additional years of directly applicable experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree

  • Hold DoD-8570 IAT Level 2 baseline certification (Security+ CE, CISSP or equivalent) prior to start date

  • Ability to work in a 24/7 operation

  • Experience with one or more of the following: alarm surveillance, fault management, fault isolation, or performance management

  • Experience with one or more of the following technologies: routers, switches, crypto devices, routing, Juniper, DWDM (6500, RLS, 9600)

  • General understanding of network topologies and the ability to understand signal flow of network architecture

  • Preferred candidate will have specific experience with network monitoring tools such as NetCool, NeuralStar, HP Operview, or OneControl

  • Preferred candidate will have firsthand experience of opening and tracking tickets in Remedy Ticket Systems

  • Preferred candidate will have demonstrable understanding of DWDM and IP principles

  • Hold an active TS/SCI security clearance
