Position Description

GSIO HIT System Engineers are part of the CenturyLink GSIO Technical implementation team. Responsibilities include implementation engineering, troubleshooting and problem resolution, technical assessments, automation, project planning, standards validation and development, technical documentation and training.

Job Description

Position Objective/ Summary:

  • Integration of new hosting clients and additional client services, including: client liaison, design critiquing and build/configuration of client solutions.

  • Work with client, project managers, and other Engineering teams to provide client services and installation.

  • Understanding new or changes to CenturyLink storage and backup solutions, to enable installation into customer solutions.

  • Preparation of client supporting documentation.

Responsibilities:

  • Provisioning storage from enterprise class arrays for new customer requirements and change requests.

  • Configuring the CenturyLink backup solution as part of a customer order or change request.

  • Installation of various type of OS Server such as Unix/Linux, Solaris and Window.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Bachelor degree or equivalent education and experience.

  • 6 years’ related experience or equivalent

  • An understanding of SAN, backup and storage technologies.

  • An understanding of the following technologies and associated management tools:

  • HP 3PAR and NetApp (SAN/NAS/CIFS) storage arrays.

  • Brocade and HP SAN switches.

  • An understanding of the following backup tools and infrastructure:

  • Symantec NetBackup.

  • Quantum tape libraries, VTL and Symantec Appliance

  • Deduplication

  • Encryption

  • System Recovery

  • VMDK Backup

  • MSDP and Puredisk

Preferred Requirements

  • Sound knowledge of the following:

  • Solaris, Linux, Windows, ESX.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Win server, Active directory and Microsoft Management console.

  • Working knowledge of Internet Information Server and other web server applications, Networks, Setting up Domains.

  • Working knowledge of troubleshooting Microsoft OS and compatible application issues, for example: Citrix, Webtrends, MS SQL

  • Experience in a data center operation and support of high-availability infrastructure

  • Knowledge of ITIL processes.

Bachelors or Equivalent in Information Systems or Other Technology
