Sr IT Engineers are part of the CenturyLink Hosting Infrastructure Engineering team. Responsibilities include lifecycle development, technical assessments, implementation engineering, server builds, automation, migrations and/or transition planning and execution, maintenance, project planning, standards validation and development, technical documentation, training, release management, troubleshooting and problem resolution for all compute infrastructure systems.
Maintain 99.999% availability for all Hosting infrastructure
Interface with other organizations to improve and implement process, procedures and automation
Provide 24 x 7 infrastructure support
Work on special projects to complete integrations and achieve cost saving
Perform testing and implementation of new product release and maintenance
Provide escalation support for Global Operations Center for Infrastructure related issues
Maintain hosting infrastructure
Patch/Upgrade hosting infrastructure based on vendor and security recommendations.
Liaise with Engineering Teams on Product and Infrastructure Development
Provide requirements to Systems Engineering Product and Infrastructure Development, as needed.
Work independently and or engage team members
Operational Testing and Documentation for all new product releases
Maintain Core Builds for Operating Systems and Applications
Testing and Documentation for Patches and Software Upgrades
Experience with all OS flavors (Linux/Windows/ESX/Solaris)
Strong knowledge of VMware.
Strong knowledge of basic protocols – SMTP, DNS, HTTP
Hardware - Oracle(SUN),HP
Strong Technical knowledge of SAN infrastructure
Strong scripting skills
Four years college degree or equivalent experience
Four + years experience administering ESX and VMware
Four + years experience administering Linux, Windows, Solaris
Experience with Network Switches, Routers, Firewalls, VLAN’s and Load Balancers is required.
Strong Virtualization skills – Vmware, Virtual Center
Familiarity with Cisco Unified Compute Platform (UCS).
Familiarity with HP Server Automation software (HPSA)
Out of Band Hardware – Cyclade, Annex
Strong inter-personal, communication and organizational skills
Motivated to contribute and do what it takes to get things done
Bachelors or Equivalent
Masters or Equivalent
