Job Summary

Reporting into the EMEA Bid Team Manager, this role will manage professionally written proposals that clearly articulate the CenturyLink value proposition.

The Bid Manager will assemble a bid team with the relevant service / product / business knowledge required to prepare a winning bid, whilst taking ownership of the end-to-end bid process. Responsibilities include introduction and implementation of all necessary bid procedures and processes. This is a highly networked role that requires an ability to work under pressure and to challenging deadlines. It will require strong people management skills in a dynamic sales environment.

Job Description

  • Deliver coherent, technically correct and successful bid and proposal submissions

  • Balancing and prioritising multiple opportunities and manage overall delivery of information to customers in the specified timelines

  • Package and present information summaries on opportunities to upper management via approval boards and maintain overall status of all activities

  • Liaise with the other members of the Bid Team and the Bid Team Manager on proposal content to ensure it is meeting requirements of CenturyLink responses.

  • Draft new content as and when required using a proposal management tool .

  • Leading and documenting Bid calls/meetings on an ongoing basis for the life cycle of the opportunity

  • Working with CenturyLink internal teams such as operations, engineering, pricing and legal to structure bid responses

  • Gaining expert knowledge of who the subject matter experts are within CenturyLink on a cross functional and company wide basis, so that the right combination of resources can be engaged to craft unique and winning bid responses

  • Working with key partners for areas of bids and solutions that CenturyLink cannot entirely support in-house.

  • Supporting delivering customer facing presentations as required.

  • Manage and validate the creation of key aspects of the bid, such as Technical Solution Pricing, KPIs and bid budgets.

  • Regularly update CenturyLink knowledge management system and use this system as one of the first point of calls for answering all bid questions.

  • Use CenturyLink bid and sales management tools (eg Qvidian and Salesforce.com) to manage and update bid progress.



The Bid Manager should possess:

  • BSc or BA Degree in Business or Technical discipline or equivalent experience

  • Extensive experience in using the Microsoft Office Suite

  • Proven capability in delivering winning, multi-million pound product or complex services bids.

  • Experience of bid campaign management from opportunity identification through to project delivery, and will provide valuable input into opportunity qualification, win strategies, commercial discussions and solution delivery.

  • Must be comfortable working at all levels.

  • Have the ability to manage complex, multi-workstream opportunities.

  • Solid understanding and management of internal governance procedures.

  • Must be an excellent communicator, both verbally and in writing

  • APMP Foundation level

  • Salesforce.com


  • Consulting / Project Management background or equivalent approach

  • Exposure to Sales/customer environments

  • Commercial acumen

  • Experience with Qvidian

  • APMP Practitioner or Professional level
