Direct, oversee, and perform system administration supporting a 24X7X365 Network Operations Center (NOC) environment
Effectively interoperate with a team of IT Systems Engineers while building positive professional relationships with customers, other IT systems Engineers, and Operations personnel
Collaborate with various teams across IT to identify the impacts of test requirements and improve the overall quality of the final deliverables.
Produce and present clear, concise, and professionally written communications and presentations using appropriate and effective communication tools and techniques.
Within their area of expertise, provide tailored advice and direction.
Set priorities, manage competing priorities, develop schedules, monitor progress towards goals, and track details/data/information/activities to satisfy requirements outlined in operational plans and procedures.
Plan, develop, and execute tests for complex systems and equipment.
Strong technical knowledge on Windows / Unix/Linux / Virtualization (preferably Microsoft Hyper-V) platforms in medium to large enterprise clustered/high availability environment.
Provide advanced Tier II/III support for a nationwide fiber optic transport network and two geographically separated network operations centers.
Perform advanced troubleshooting as the internal escalation point of contact for complex and persistent trouble tickets.
Interact extensively with internal engineering and support teams as well as with Tier III support engineers of various hardware/software vendors to solve challenging issues.
Interact closely with network engineers, security personnel, program managers and vendors to meet network performance criteria.
Act as network operations technical lead on new and emerging network management/defense requirements and designs.
Track daily work activity by use of a ticketing system
Manage and participate in enterprise-level projects encompassing systems, networks, and SAN/NAS storage.
Respond to network and system issues by isolating the problem and utilizing resources in a manner which least disrupts network availability.
Perform diagnostics using software and hardware tools to optimize network performance.
Oversee/monitor status of systems and equipment to address potential technical problems. Inspect and analyze equipment/systems performance to determine maintenance and repair requirements.
React quickly and competently to identify, track, document, escalate, and resolve immediate network vulnerabilities/threats.
Configure, maintain and monitor Windows Server Failover Clusters, McAfee ePO, SQL, System Center Suite (SCOM/SCCM/SCVMM), Solarwinds, Veritas NetBackup, SharePoint, Red Hat Linux, Remedy and Exchange servers
Support a clustered, highly available Remote Desktop Services environment utilizing Dell WYSE thin clients
Conduct risk assessments to identify possible security violations using ACAS and DoD STIGs.
Develop methods and procedures to ensure systems and applications are protected.
Develop and implements detailed standard operating procedures.
Provide project status to management
Provide after-hours and weekend support on an on-call basis as required.
Perform other duties as required
Estimated 15% of time is travel; however, the amount of travel is dependent on the current mission requirement and operations environment
Shift work is mandatory – primarily swings with potential mid
MCSA certification required
RHCE certification desired
DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (Security+) or above required
Bachelor’s degree in an Information Technology field and three years of experience or seven years applicable work experience desired
Required experience: Windows Server, SQL, System Center, Red Hat Linux, Active Directory
Desired experience: SolarWinds, SharePoint, Exchange, IDS/IPS, HBSS, ACAS, Infrastructure devices, Remedy, Remote Desktop Services with thin clients, Certificate Authority, Lync/Skype
Have a minimum of two years System Administration experience within current operational environment preferred
Top Secret clearance mandatory and current SCI mandatory
